A leading retail and banking solutions provider developing a new generation of machines required higher operating speeds and accuracy whilst positioning banknotes in specific areas of the cash handling cycle.
BCS worked with the develop team to provide a precision product with the utmost accuracy between each belt together with a combination of longer life and improved frictional drive.
The Solution
A precision timing belt manufactured in polyurethane with integrally moulded features and profiles. As a result of our mould tool technology the dimensional tolerances of the belt and critical positioning of the features and profiles gave the design team exactly what they required.
From our wide range of available materials we were able to supply a precision belt with the required friction, anti-static properties and service life.
Extensive life testing by the customer, including an environment chamber, proved that the solution offered by BCS gave them exactly what their new generation of machines required.
Conclusion.
BCS are now providing a precision bespoke timing belts used in ATM’s around the world.
BCS were asked by a leading global manufacturer to assist in the design of their new generation of banknote validators with a goal of improving reliability whilst reducing the footprint of their product.
Solution.
After development work by the team at BCS we were able to provide a high friction neoprene with a very small hardness tolerance to achieve consistent performance. We were tasked with providing various precision timing belts, ranging from the smallest drive belt used in banknote validators (28 teeth 2mm pitch,) to be utilised in critical areas of the note path. These precision miniature timing belts were used together with longer timing belts from the same neoprene material, with a very tight tolerance of shore hardness (+/-2°). We were also tasked with supplying a specific thickness with very small tolerances for all the belts in contact with the banknotes. Our manufacturing process allowed us to meet all the requirements allowing our customer to benefit from very accurate and controlled speeds whilst the banknotes pass through the validating area of the machine.
Conclusion
The customer completed their development and life testing program successfully, on time and BCS are now providing a range of quality neoprene timing belts used in Banknote validators sold around the world.
A global cash re-cycler OEM asked BCS at the start of a development project with a challenge to help reduce belting costs whilst improving performance.
Solution.
We offered our range of precision semi-elastic polyurethane flat belts eliminating the need for tensioning devices therefore reducing cost. Our 2nd generation product has been successfully life tested for cash handling applications. Our innovative tool design and manufacturing process allows consistency in the position of the neutral axis of the yarns resulting in consistent speed and reduced vibration resulting in higher process speeds and therefore improved performance. With the option of a wide choice of hardness we were also able to provide the frictional and anti-static properties required for the high speeds required throughout the banknote path of the re-cycler.
Conclusion.
The customer completed successful performance and life tests and are now specifying BCS precision semi-elastic flat belts within their re-cycler.
A leading manufacturer of bespoke audio systems contacted BCS at the concept stage of their new design project. Their engineers needed a precision flat belt to provide concise speed control for the turntable minimising vibrations and therefore enhancing sound quality.
Solution.
The BCS engineers offered their 2nd generation semi-elastic polyurethane precision flat belt. Our manufacturing process guarantees consistent positioning of the neutral axis of the elastic yarns providing consistent speed and reduced vibration. We were able to offer a precision dual durometer belt meeting the frictional, anti-static properties and improved wear characteristics for longer operational life.
Conclusion.
The customer evaluated our semi-elastic belts and established that the consistency provided by the BCS semi-elastic belts satisfied their high quality technical requirements. The high end record player has now gone into production and BCS continue to provide them with a quality precision dual durometer polyurethane semi-elastic drive belt.
